Wash: Wash separately in cold water by hand or on a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent.
Drying: Line dry in the shade.
Pro Tip: Do not soak, scrub, bleach or wring. Iron on the reverse side at a suitable cotton setting.
Gentle variations in print placement and shade are part of each cover’s handcrafted character. Some excess colour may release during the first few washes. Colours may appear slightly different in person due to lighting, photography and screen settings.
Craft Story!
Ajrakh is created slowly through a sequence of around sixteen stages, including washing, preparing, resist printing, mordanting, dyeing and repeated drying. Khatri artisans align hand-carved wooden blocks with practiced precision, building each geometric pattern one impression and one colour at a time. In its traditional form, indigo, madder, harda, iron and other natural materials produce its characteristic blue, red, black and ivory palette. Every layer depends on the accuracy of the previous one, while water, sunlight and temperature influence the final result. Practised by artisan families in Kutch for generations, Kutch Ajrakh Print of Gujarat is now a registered Geographical Indication, recognising its regional origin and distinctive craftsmanship.
